Golf & Hurricanes. Not a good match, to be honest. And it was proven to be true recently as well when Hurricane Helene hit Florida. Moreover, the unfortunate tragedy had caused so much destruction that many in the golf world including the PGA Tour had taken to support the victims however they could. But a certain golfing enthusiast seems to view the sport and the tragic twist of mother nature as the perfect match.
On one side there are people who are devastated by Helene while on the other, there is a golf fan who wants to play the sport amid a hurricane. Yes, you read that right! For a tweet was shared by NUCLR GOLF divulging how a man played the sport in a hurricane. The reason? Well, it’s all thanks to a “super hot deal” of being able to play 18 holes for just a measly sum of $5.
It does sound cheap! But that wasn’t the main issue here. Funnily enough, the tweet also shared two screenshots of a conversation between the enthusiast and his golfing friend, the latter of whom was asked by the former for a round of “Hurricane Golf tomorrow.” His answer? “Absolutely not… Dude, you’re literally retarded. There’s gonna be tropical storm force winds starting at like noon.”
Do you think he listened to that? Not even in his wildest dreams for he messaged, “I’ll be out here swinging and playing the best round of my life. I got a 2:30 tee time for super cheap it’s insane.” Needless to say, the golfing fan took to the course the next day to play the sport in the midst of a hurricane and managed to tee off early as well! Calling him adventurous would be a little understatement!
Hurricanes don’t always go for the best background when playing golf, as can be seen from the recent example of Helene. It caused so much devastation that many PGA Tour Pros including Luke List, and Kevin Kisner, among others, took to help the victims who were affected by the same!
The PGA Tour Pros don’t turn a blind eye to Hurricane Helene victims
It was the press conference ahead of the Sanderson Farms Championship when PGA Tour Pro Luke List took to divulge his intention to support the “Birdies for Augusta” initiative. Not just him, but his neighbor and fellow Augusta resident Henrik Norlander also took to pledge $500 to the Red Cross for every birdie they carded at the tournament. The result? List was able to dish out 14 birdies resulting in a sum of $7000 while Norlander made $8500 from 17 birdies, all of which went to help the local victims of the tragedy at Augusta.
They weren’t the only ones who extended their hands out to the affected people. Kevin Kisner, the U.S. Presidents Cup assistant captain, took to hold a “Hurricane Helene Relief Concert,” on October 5, Saturday. He was able to urge the people to bring “non-perishable items or donate to The Kisner Foundation Hurricane Relief Fund for the CSRA.” The PGA Tour Pro sure managed to find a unique way to help those in need. Truly inspiring! Take a bow, you guys!
