Rafael Nadal recently took some time to welcome NBA legend LeBron James to the E1 Series. The prestigious boat racing circuit has a limited number of teams and sponsors, which is why James’ inclusion to the list is a major change for the landscape of the company.
Nadal has been the owner of a team in the E1 Series for about a year. The $1.2 billion-worth James (as per Forbes) is merely the latest celebrity to join the project, which already counts the support of actor Will Smith and NFL player Tom Brady. Nadal posted a congratulatory message to the newest member of this exclusive club:
The message from Rafael Nadal to LeBron James was seen through a post on X, where the Spaniard tennis champion took some time to welcome the NBA star to the next chapter of his career. Nadal’s experience as the owner of an E1 Series team could serve as guidance for the basketball icon.
A precise date for the next racing weekend for the E1 Series hasn’t been revealed, but it has been confirmed that the next event will take place in Doha. Five events took place during last year, meaning that fans of electric boat racing can look forward to plenty of action in the months to come.
What is the E1 Series?
The E1 Series is the only all-electric powerboat racing series in the world. The first announcement related to the circuit came out in 2020, but it wasn’t until 2024 when the inagural season of the league took place. Five events took place across the world.
While the premise of the E1 Series sounded attractive enough for both investors and fans, the season came to an early close. The event that was supposed to take place in Hong Kong during the final months of the year was unfortunately canceled.
Due to the abrupt change in schedule, the team led by Tom Brady was declared the early winner of the season. Hopefully, this season of the E1 Series will be able to move forward as expected, with new countries getting the opportunity to experience the excitement up close.
Rafael Nadal has stepped away from professional tennis. The Spaniard won 22 Grand Slam titles over the course of his career, turning him into one of the greatest players in the history of the sport. Now that he’s retired, Nadal has more time to spend with his team from the E1 Series.
