Iga Swiatek ended her run at the 2025 Australian Open after defeat against Madison Keys in the semifinals of the tournament. The five-time Grand Slam winner did not drop a set throughout the entire tournament until Keys broke her glory streak in the second-set of today’s match.

Swiatek however, took time out after her heartbreaking 7-5, 1-6, 6-7(8) loss to give her thanks to her coaching team who helped her get here.

A clip (below) posted on X (formerly Twitter) shows her embracing her coach Wim Fissette and the rest of her team. The player is also seen getting emotional and wiping her eyes after.

After a tumultuous 2024 season, the Pole qualified for her the semifinals of the Australian Open for the second time after her first in 2022.

Fan favourite Iga Swiatek was leading the semifinals with a win in the first set. Keys’ incredible comeback in the second, ensured a crucial decider set. After a nail-biting third set, the duo went in for a 10-point tie-breaker. Keys emerged victorious in a gut-wrenching battle of tenacity.

That match was such high level, and she played so well. I felt like I was just fighting to stay in it and then really kind of ran with the second. The third was just a battle, and to be able to be standing here and be in the finals is absolutely amazing,” the American told the media after her win.

Iga Swiatek, despite her loss at the Australian Open, kept her hopes up for future Major tournaments as she eyes her Sixth Grand Slam.
