Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s final blow to Queen Elizabeth revealed amid bitter…
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were “disrespectful” of Queen Elizabeth in the months following her death, a royal expert has claimed.
The late monarch died in September 2022, but that didn’t stop the Duke and Duchess of Sussex from releasing their explosive Netflix docuseries just two months later. The couple had flown over to the U.K. for the Queen’s funeral before returning to their home in Montecito, California.
Their Netflix show, titled Harry & Meghan, was filmed when the Queen was “in rapidly declining health,” according to royal commentator Richard Eden. The show caused tensions with the royal family as Meghan and Harry accused them of “leaking” stories to the press.
In the docuseries, Meghan detailed what it was like when she was first introduced to the royal family. She gave a dramatic curtsy as she recalled meeting the late Queen.
It’s surreal. It wasn’t like some big moment of like, ‘Now you’re going to meet my grandmother,” Meghan said in the clip. “I didn’t know I was going to meet her until moments before.”
She added, “And I remember we were in the car and we were driving up and he’s like ‘You know how to curtsy right?’ And I just thought it was a joke.”
Meghan was heavily criticized for the extravagant curtsy she gave in the show as she re-enacted the encounter with the monarch. Many accused her of mocking Elizabeth.
Eden suggested the “most disrespectful” parts of the docuseries were “the sections of the program devoted to denigrating the Commonwealth.” He pointed out how it was something that was close to Elizabeth’s heart.
He wrote in the Daily Mail, “There had, of course, been no complaints from Harry or Meghan when the Queen had given them roles promoting the Commonwealth while they were still part of ‘The Firm’. Harry similarly didn’t think twice about writing his tawdry memoirs while his grandmother’s health was worsening.”
The Duke of Sussex released his debut memoir Spare four months after the Queen’s death. In the book, he slammed the royal family and opened up about an explosive row he had with his brother Prince William, during which the Prince of Wales allegedly called Harry’s wife “difficult”, “rude” and “abrasive.”
Harry claims his brother then “grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor.” Eden said in response, “Thank goodness that it was not published until four months after the Queen’s death, so she did not have to read about his betrayals of private conversations and vilification of her loved ones.
