Prince Harry’s ex ‘was completely spooked’ by Kate Middleton and ended Ro…
Prince Harry may be happily settled with his former actress wife Meghan Markle, but before her, he was romantically involved with another actress. For two years, the prince had a tumultuous relationship with Burberry muse and model Cressida Bonas – reportedly introduced to him by his cousin Princess Eugenie.
However, their romance eventually fizzled out, and now Cressida is expecting her second child with husband Harry Wentworth-Stanley. It seems that the reason for the end of her royal romance was because she found the royal life too overwhelming – particularly after witnessing the life of Harry’s sister-in-law, the current Princess of Wales, on television.
In the book Battle of Brothers, which explores the relationship between Princes William and Harry, royal expert Robert Lacey suggests that Prince William and Kate Middleton’s royal tour of New Zealand and Australia “spooked” Cressida. He writes: “A rising actress, Cressida did not enjoy the critical remarks that she could hear people making behind her back when she walked down the street in London – she felt that the fame of her relationship put her “in a box.
In 2014, she was said to have been ‘completely spooked’ after watching the TV coverage of William and Kate touring New Zealand with baby George in tow – that was not the way she would want to enjoy her eight-month-old son, she regretfully explained to Harry.”
When Harry and Cressida decided to go their separate ways, a close one remarked: “It’s very sad that they have decided to split but this is a completely amicable separation and they are remaining the very best of friends,” reports the Mirror.
True to their word, the ex-couple stayed chummy, with Cressida snagging an invite to Meghan and Harry’s opulent 2018 nuptials. Meanwhile, Cressida had her own low-key nuptial bash during lockdown with beau Harry, who hails from real estate royalty and counts a Marchioness as his mom.
In the great outdoors, they said their “I dos,” with a tight-knit crowd cheering them on. For the country chic affair, Cressida picked an unexpectedly mellow frock she’d once rocked in a James Arthur music video.
Two years back, she introduced her little one Wilbur to the world and now, another bun in the oven, thanks to an embryo she stashed away post-IVF for baby number one. The 35 year old shared her journey: “I am now well into my second pregnancy. Having conceived through IVF the first time, we were fortunate to have another embryo stored away in a freezer… I’ve been battling morning sickness. I’ve never had it before, and now feel like I’ve been swaying on a boat for months.”
The actress is over the moon with her new arrival after years of heartache, saying earlier how it felt like her “body was failing” her in the midst of her fertility struggles, despite doctors reassuring her there were no major issues. Penning her experience in The Sunday Times, Cressida revealed: “I spent time and money on reflexology, nutritionists, acupuncture and psychics…Even a German healer who speaks to angels. I heard nothing, not a squeak.”
She continued, “My mind was on a constant worry loop and my obsession with getting pregnant became overwhelming, No matter how many Mystic Megs I saw or expensive supplements I took, nothing was working, and I felt as if my body was failing me.”
But joy followed her struggle when, in July 2022, Cressida the model turned mom confirmed she had conceived through IVF, welcoming little Wilbur into the world in November that same year.
